A Brazilian plastic surgeon known as “Dr. Bumbum” — or “Dr. Butt” on social media because of his buttock-enhancement operations — was charged with murder on Wednesday, about a month after one of his patients died following a cosmetic intervention. Saskia O’Donoghue reports.
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL (TV BANDEIRANTES) – A Brazilian plastic surgeon known as “Dr. Bumbum” has been charged with murder.
Denis Furtado – also known as “Dr. Butt” because of his buttock-enhancement operations – was arrested last month after one of his patients died following a cosmetic intervention.
The surgeon was charged along with his mother, girlfriend and an assistant.
They’re accused of having performed a butt-lift procedure at a – quote – “unfit location”, namely Furtado’s home in Rio de Janeiro.
The victim was 46-year-old Lilian Calixto. She died at a hospital where Furtado had taken her the day after the procedure.

While the doctor claims to have performed 9,000 similar operations, the charge sheet indicates that he used an excessive amount of a transparent thermoplastic material called PMMA.
“Dr. Bumbum’s” work has turned him into a celebrity.
He has over 600,000 instagram followers – where he posted before and after photos of his work.
