Fire tornado develops from blaze in English village

WOODVILLE, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (AUGUST 7, 2018) (LEICESTERSHIRE FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE) – English firefighters were met with a fire tornado on Tuesday (August 7) as they tackled a large blaze in the village of Woodville.

Video uploaded by the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service showed the fire tornado, also known as a fire whirl, stretching into the sky from a large plastic pallets blaze.

Fire tornados, which are uncommon in the UK, are caused by thermal currents of warm air rising from the ground, drawing in fire and ash, the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said.
