LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (JULY 9, 2018) (THE O2) – Justin Timberlake backed England’s World Cup bid as he told the crowd “it’s coming home” during a concert at The O2 arena in London on July 9.
In a video shared on Twitter by the concert venue, the O2, the singer can be seen on stage rallying the crowd and saying, “Go on then Kane! Go on then Maguire!”.
The phrase “it’s coming home” is taken from the song “Three Lions” by comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner and band The Lightning Seeds. It was originally written for the Euro ’96 tournament which England hosted but left in the semi-finals after a penalty shootout against Germany.
On Wednesday, England play Croatia in the World Cup semi-finals. It will be the first time England has reached this stage of the tournament since 1990.
