Trump pays tribute to Aretha Franklin: ‘She was a special woman’

WASHINGTON, D.C., UNITED STATES (AUGUST 16, 2018) (RESTRICTED POOL) – U.S. President Donald Trump paid tribute to “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin, who died on Thursday (August 16) at the age of 76, calling her “a special woman.”

“She was given a great gift from God – her voice, and she used it well,” he said during a cabinet meeting at the White House.

Franklin, who won 18 Grammys and had some 25 gold records, passed away at her home in Detroit surrounded by family and loved ones, her publicist said. She had been battling advanced pancreatic cancer.
