Ivanka Trump brings message of women empowerment to Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA (APRIL 14, 2019) (REUTERS) – President Donald Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, met with members of the Ethiopian Women’s Coffee Association in Addis Ababa on Sunday (April 14).

In an hour-long session which included a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony, Trump pledged and reiterated her support for the group and other women start-ups.

Trump is on a four-day trip in Africa to promote a global women’s initiative she’s leading, that aims to economically empower 50 million women in developing countries by 2025.

In a statement posted on Twitter, the president’s daughter said that she was “excited” to advance the initiative and to champion “American values of freedom and equality around the world”.

She is expected to visit the Ivory Coast later in the week.
